AARNet (Australia’s Academic and Research Network) wishes to recognise the innovative leadership and technical engineering expertise of the Australian Research & Education community in the use of AARNet’s high-speed network or services that have led to any single or combination of the following outcomes:

  1. New forms of online research collaboration
  2. New ways to support online learning and distance teaching methods
  3. New forms of immersive teaching and learning environments on campus(es)
  4. New ways of cost effectively delivering IT services

AARNet is delighted to have the support of QUESTnet for the inaugural AARNet Excellence Awards. QUESTnet premier annual conference for the University Information Technology community.

The Awards will be presented at the QUESTnet 2013 Conference Gala Dinner at the Gold Coast Royal Pines Resort, Queensland, on 4 July 2013.

We welcome submissions from the Research & Education Information Technology Services community that demonstrate the value of services delivered to educators, researchers, staff and students.

Nominations for AARNet Excellence Awards are now open!

Who Can Apply:

The Awards are open to institutions currently connected to and using the AARNet Network, this competition excludes submissions from AARNet employees.  You do not have to attend QUESTNET to apply but if you or a representative can be there to receive a winning award this would be welcomed.

Deadline:

The deadline for submissions is midnight AEST June 30, 2013.

All submissions will be reviewed by an evaluation committee comprising of AARNet, QRNO member CIOs and a QUESTnet representative.

AARNet Excellence Awards Prizes 2013

1st Prize

  • Individual – a parrot AR Drone 2.0 valued at $399
  • Institution –  six months access to a virtual video conferencing meeting room supporting 5 participants valued at $7,500

2nd Prize

  • Individual – $225 Red Balloon Gift Card.
  • Institution – a network review and service requirements workshop consulting package covering network, network managed service, unified collaboration, virtual services areas, valued at $5,000.

3rd Prize

  • Individual – a $150 Myer and Coles Group Gift Card.
  • Institution – 1 Terabyte of personal Cloudstor+ storage valued at $360 (market equivalent rates are $1000)

Prizes are non-transferable and valid for use within 3 months of the announcement of the winners. No cash equivalent is allowed. AARNet employees are ineligible to participate in this year’s awards.
